Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last Updated: May 2026
Our Zero-Waste Promise
Because BellyBox operates on a pre-planned cooking supply system with local home chefs, we prepare ingredients in advance. Our refund and skip policies are designed to protect chefs from financial loss due to unused food while offering our subscribers maximum operational flexibility.
1. Meal Skipping Policy
If you do not require a meal on a specific day, you must submit a "Skip" request on the platform:
- Cutoff Deadline: The skip must be logged at least 3 hours prior to your selected slot's delivery window start (e.g., skip lunch before 9:00 AM on the day of delivery, assuming lunch delivery starts at 12:00 PM).
- Skip Limits & Credits:
- For Weekly plans: The first 2 skips per cycle generate credits.
- For Monthly plans: The first 8 skips per cycle generate credits.
- Meal-Credits: Credits are slot-specific (e.g., a skipped Lunch generates a Lunch credit). The credit is equal to the unit price of the meal on your active invoice. These credits are stored as **Meal-Credits** and automatically apply to renew your same slot in future cycles. Meal-credits expire in **90 days** from the creation date.
- Exceeded Skips: Skips beyond your plan's cycle limits will cancel that delivery so that food is not prepared or wasted, but **no credit or refund** will be generated.
2. Plan Pauses
- Notice Period: Subscriptions can be paused with a **24-hour advance notice**.
- Remaining Meals Credit: All upcoming meals scheduled after the pause date in your current cycle are cancelled, and their cash value is credited to your account.
- Max Pause Duration & Auto-Cancel: You can stay paused for a maximum of **60 days**. A daily background check monitors this limit and sends an auto-cancel warning 7 days in advance. On the 60th day, the subscription auto-cancels, and all pause tiffin credits are converted into **Global Wallet Credits** (₹).
3. Full Subscription Cancellations & Refund Methods
Subscriptions can be cancelled with a **24-hour advance notice** and are effective immediately after the notice period (not at the end of the month/week).
- Refund to Source (Primary Default): Remaining scheduled meals in the current paid cycle are calculated using their unit invoice price. By default, the cash value of these remaining meals, plus any existing non-expired pause or skip credits, is refunded directly to your original payment source (UPI, Bank Account, or Card) via Razorpay.
- Global Wallet Credit (Fallback): If a payout to the original payment source cannot be executed (e.g., due to an expired mandate, closed bank account, or other gateway limitations), or if the user explicitly opts for it, the calculated amount is issued as **Global Wallet Credits** (₹) inside your BellyBox account, usable immediately for any subscription renewals or new vendor checkouts.
- Refund Cap Rule: To prevent billing exploits, any payment source refund is strictly capped at the **original transaction payment amount**. Any calculated refund excess (e.g., promotional credits, compensation bonuses) is automatically credited to your Global Wallet as fallback.
- Vendor Holidays: If your vendor goes on holiday, tiffins for those dates are automatically marked as `skipped_by_vendor`, and slot-specific **Meal-credits** are created for you immediately. No action is required on your part.
4. Trial Cancellations
Trials (such as the 3-day trial) are one-time packages. If you decide to cancel an active trial:
- Only meals that have **not yet been delivered or prepared** can be refunded or credited.
- Meals already prepared, in delivery, or delivered are non-refundable.
- Trial cancellation refunds are processed as a cash refund or global credits depending on the trial type.
5. Gateway Refund Turnaround SLA
Where a payment source refund is approved under this policy:
- All payouts are requested via Razorpay APIs within 24 hours of cancellation approval.
- The funds typically credit back to your original source of payment (UPI, Bank Account, or Card) within 5 to 7 business days, subject to standard interbank clearing cycles.
